Compared to other approaches such as electrification or the use of hydrogen, biomass offers some unique advantages that make it an important part of a diversified energy mix.
First of all, biomass is one of the few renewable energy sources that is continuously available, regardless of weather conditions or time of day. This makes it a reliable supplement to fluctuating energy sources such as wind and solar energy. Using waste materials, agricultural residues or wood waste to generate energy not only produces energy, but also supports the circular economy concept by putting these materials to good use.
